Alice & Rob’s wedding at Old Luxters Barn
Two wedding cakes, super-smiley page boys and a lot of laughterEarlier this year I photographed Alice & Rob with their children just outside the grounds of Greys Court for their pre-wedding shoot. I had so much fun with their sons and knew they were going to be just as delightful on their parent’s wedding day. I wasn’t disappointed. They looked absolutely gorgeous in their kilts and were full of smiles and laughter throughout the day.
Rob’s sister Claire was Alice’s bridesmaid, and she clearly could not have been more pleased to see these two get married. She is also clearly devoted to her two nephews, and it was really touching to see.
Alice & Rob got married at St Bartholomew’s Church in Fingest, probably the narrowest church I have worked in. I also think it’s the first time I’ve heard a vicar read from Winnie The Pooh! The aisle wasn’t even wide enough for Alice to walk down the aisle next to her father or new husband, but she seemed happy to be led, and lifted over the gate following the ceremony. Alice is a vet, so it seemed appropriate that there were some four-legged friends to greet her outside the church.
After the ceremony it was off to one of my favourite venues, Old Luxters Barn in the beautiful Hambleden Valley.
I think kilts look fabulous at weddings, but when the inevitable ‘let’s see what’s under the kilts’ shot was requested, I was a little relieved to see that there was an array of specially themed boxer shorts, unlike at the last wedding I photographed at Old Luxters!
I love speeches, and these were great. I certainly didn’t get all of the references made by Rob’s two best men Phil & Si, but I think Rob may have had an interesting past!
As well as a more traditional wedding cake, Alice and Rob also had a Superhero styled cake so that their sons could also join them in cutting the cake, a really sweet moment.
I love live music at weddings, and The Salvation band performed a beautiful acoustic set as a duo during the drinks reception, followed by a brilliant electric set as a four-piece later in the evening.
Congratulations Alice and Rob, I know you have a wonderful future together with your gorgeous boys.
