Hazel & Jason’s garden wedding

No couple wants it to rain on their wedding day, but Hazel and Jason REALLY didn’t want it to rain!

As I drove towards Hazel and Jason’s house I really felt for them as the rain lashed down on the car windscreen. They were having a humanist ceremony in a marquee in their front garden and were then planning to have drinks in their back garden. As Hazel left the house on the arm of her proud Mum it was pouring.

Fortunately for Hazel and Jason it didn’t rain all day and we managed gets lots of lovely family shots outside when the sun came out.

Hazel and Jason had completed the legal part of their marriage earlier in the week, which allowed them to have a humanist ceremony at their home. This was my first humanist ceremony, and it was very personal with lots of similarities to a service in a church or registry office. After the ceremony their closest friends and family joined them for drinks in their home before heading on a short walk to their local pub Seven Stars on the Green in Marsh Baldon.

More of Hazel and Jason’s friends joined them at the pub for drinks before entering the beautiful marquee in the back garden. On display was an amazing cake created by Jason’s step-mother Deana. I left

Hazel and Jason have four children between them, but even before the vows were exchanged this was clearly one very close knit family who all adore each other. The confidence of the girls as they gave readings and speeches was staggering. I know Hazel’s daughter was very nervous before her speech, but I meant it when I told her I thought hers was probably the best and most moving speech I have ever heard.  During his speech Jason presented his new wife with one of the most unusual wedding presents I have seen, but she was clearly delighted.

I hope you enjoy looking through some of my favourite photos from the day.

Congratulations to you both and to your beautiful girls.

UPDATE

I received the following lovely message from Hazel after she had seen her photos. I love getting feedback from couples, it really means a lot to me.

“Hi Cheryl, these are absolutely wonderful – I love them and so many!

We had an amazing day and you helped in so many ways to keep us all together at the start and for that I would like to thank you very much.

I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone.”
