Rebecca & Sam’s wedding at Old Luxters Barn

Rebecca & Sam contacted me following a recommendation from a family friend whose children’s 21st birthdays I had photographed over the years.

I loved the church they had chosen for their ceremony, St Botolph’s Church in Swyncombe, tucked away down a quiet country lane in the Chilterns countryside, although it wasn’t the easiest to photograph in due to the pillars. I was very grateful to the vicars (one of whom was Rebecca’s own grandfather), for allowing me to stand in the best possible spot which meant I could capture the beautiful glances the couple gave each other during their ceremony.

I was aware of Old Luxter’s Barn as a local venue and was really looking forward to working there. It certainly didn’t disappoint. The vineyard is a great place for photos of the bride and groom, it has a lovely garden for the family and friend group shots, a light and airy marquee & courtyard for the drinks reception and a beautiful twinkly barn for the rest of the evening. What more could you want from a venue!

I loved the colour scheme for the wedding. The bridesmaid’s dresses were gorgeous and co-ordinated beautifully with the stunning hand-tied bouquets. I always love a kilt at a wedding and this one was full of them, with alcohol fuelling a desire to show exactly what lay beneath.  Some images I may unfortunately never be able to get out of my mind, but fear not, I will not be sharing them here!

Naked cakes are becoming very popular at weddings, and this was one was a stunner, created by one of their friends. The piper and members of the band were also friends of Rebecca and Sam. I am lucky they didn’t have any friends able to photograph the wedding too!

There was a lot of laughter throughout the day, and I think it’s safe to say that everyone had a fabulous day, me included.  Congratulations to you both, it was a pleasure to spend the day with you and your guests.

I am often asked by couples how many photos they can expect from their wedding day, and the truth is that it varies considerably from 500-1000, depending on how many hours I with you for, how many guests there are & what there is to photograph! Rebecca and Sam received over 1000 photos from their wedding day, of which 161 can be seen above. Their favourites may well be different to mine, which is why I’d always prefer the couple themselves to choose their photos for the album, not me, and why I’d rather give too many than too few, and I will never put a limit on the number of photographs I’ll present to a couple. I’ll always emphasise that good wedding photography should be about quality, not quantity, and you can see that even with as few as 161 photos (shown above) you can get a real feel for the whole day.
