Vikki & Shaun’s wedding at Old Luxters Barn
A Cocker Spaniel in a bow-tie – what’s not to love!
I knew as soon as I arrived at Danesfield House that Vikki and Shaun’s wedding was going to be a lot of fun. She and her 5 bridesmaids were all getting ready at Danesfield, a stunning hotel and spa just outside Marlow. It’s not far from Old Luxters Barn where the wedding was to be held, and I’d highly recommend it as a place to stay and to get ready before your big day.
I loved the aqua green bridesmaid dresses, and this colour extended as far as the groomsmens accessories and even Cooper’s bow tie. More about him later.
I love it when a couple allow plenty of time between the end of their ceremony and the start of the wedding breakfast. Not only is the time for the family photos and couple portraits, but also the main time when you’ll be able to chat with all your guests. It’s also a great opportunity for me to capture the storytelling element of the day, which couples often tell me are their favourite photos as they capture the essence of the day.
Normally a page boy in a bow tie holding a ‘ring security’ sign would be the cutest person at a wedding, but I’m sorry to say that on this occasion he was trumped by the furry four-legged Cocker Spaniel Cooper. I’d even question whether Vikki and Shaun love him more than each other (but maybe that’s going a little too far… but only just).
The food is always amazing at Old Luxters Barn, but this was the first time I had seen a DIY wedding breakfast. Vikki and Shaun had allocated a novelty apron to one person on each table so that they could carve the lamb for everyone which added a really fun element to the meal. I think some of the gents were rather attached to the aprons and kept them on for far longer than necessary!
It’s great to see the dancefloor fill up after the first dance, as often it takes a while for guests to warm up to the thought of dancing, but their guests were well up for it! A great mix of cheesy 80’s tunes got everyone in the mood and I was very tempted to stay and dance the night away myself, but an early start the next day meant I dragged myself away and left them to it. It was going to be a very good night.
Vikki and Shaun (and Cooper), thank you for having me along to share your day, I wish the three of you a lifetime of happy walks in the woods.
